- Thought I'd share a glaring example of my social ineptitude. Yesterday, at the store, I ran into a kind-of-friend neighbor-of-friend parent-of-my-child's-friend who I hadn't seen in some time. I tend to regard others more highly than I perceive them to regard me, so what should have been a 'hello!' became a handshake-psych!-awkward-half-hug. Gah.
- Today is Hawaiian Shirt Day, and I talked the hubbie into wearing his if I wore one, but then -psych!- my classes got canceled, so he's walking around in his floral shirt, all alone.
- We finally caught a movie at the Carmike. Yesterday was the little one's birthday, so we saw 'Alice'. It was darker than I expected, and I would not recommend it for kids under ten or so. It's definitely at the upper end of PG.
- I got some of those new Lay's all natural chips yesterday... the 'Tangy Carolina BBQ' flavor... and they're like crack. I never buy chips, but these are particularly good.
- I still have something like 110 packages of scout cookies in my living room. Some of them are leaving this weekend to other scout parents who have requested them. I've been taking a case at a time to campus, and told the hubbie this morning that I'm not sure I want to become known as "the white lady with the cookies". He's sick of the boxes stacked here, and agreed; he'd rather I be known as "the white lady without cookies".
- My seasonal allergies were holding off quite nicely until I drove past a landscaping crew. My windows were only open a little, but before I'd driven two more blocks, it's like someone had turned on a fountain in my head. Time to start hauling a box of tissue in the car again.
- For locals: tomorrow is NCSSM's food drive. Pack a grocery bag and head over to donate to their collection for NC Food Bank.

All this hugging business--especially man to man--is fairly new, in my experience anyway. While I'm not generally a hugger, I've learned who my huggy friends are so I'll be ready when they lean in for the hug. I don't mind hugging back a bit. Though I once had a male friend who used a bit too much pelvis during his hugs--this was back in the crazy early 90s. Yeesh.
The thing is: I'm *not* a hugger, but everyone else is... hence, the awkwardness. lol
If we ever meet, I'd like to request a hug. I get, like, three hugs a year, and you're my top blog commenter. I'd be less cranky if I had more hugs.
See? That's what I need to do: take a poll of everyone I know... or better, find out within ten minutes of introductions whether the person I've just met is a hugger.
